Hi everyone.
Hi everyone,

My name is Hannah and I just joined the group. I was just wondering if anyone knew/knows if Eddie Campbell is playing for the P. Bruins this year? and/or if he played for them last season?

"Providence center Patrice Bergeron returned to the Bruins on Wednesday after leading Canada to its first Gold Medal in the World Junior Championships since 1997. Bergeron was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after being the top scorer, with 5-8-13 totals in six games. He jumped right back into action with the Bruins, tallying a goal and four assists over the weekend. The 19-year-old native of Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec ranks third on the team with 11-21-32 totals in 28 games."

Pbruins VS. Phantoms

The first period was going great. Both teams were skating really hard. No score.

The second period the Bruins scored twice. THen, the bruins net came off while the Phantoms scored- the refs still counted the point. Hannu got pissed. He threw stuff and was about to charge the ref. THe game for the b's went downhill from there. By the end of the second there were a few fights and the game was tied 2-2

The third period went by really fast but, wasnt too good eiher. Once again, the period ended tied but, 3-3

OT! We were doing pretty well untill we tried to change lines while the puck was still in oUR zone! Patrice had the puck and passed it back to... * i dont remmeber*, *i dont remember* skated right by the puck not realizing that Patrice passed it back. The Phantom took the puck along the sid eof the boards with just him and Hannu there. He shot, BAM, GOAL, game over.....

I took some pictures so one I get them developed I should have them up here.

sad news :( Carl Corazzini :(
FOUR GAMES UPCOMING THIS WEEK

November 15, 2004

The Providence Bruins announced today that they have acquired defenseman Darrel
Scoville from the Hershey Bears in exchange for right wing Carl Corazzini.
Scoville is expected to join the team in time for practice on Tuesday. The
Bruins also announced today that defenseman Steve Munn has been released from
his tryout contract.

“We are very happy to bring Darryl to the Bruins organization,” said Bruins head
coach Scott Gordon. “He fills two needs for us. First, he is a proven
offensive defenseman in the AHL, and will add another dimension to our defense
corps. The other need is it opens up some room on our forward lines. We had
too many forwards and not enough ice time to go around, so this deal will give
Carl a new opportunity in Hershey. ”

Scoville, a 29-year-old native of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, is playing in his
seventh professional season out of Merrimack College (HE). He began his
professional career in 1998-99 with the Saint John Flames (AHL), and played with
the team through the 2000-01 season. Scoville played in the 2000 AHL All-Star
Classic, and was a member of the Flames’ 2000-01 Calder Cup championship team.
He has twice ranked among the top-10 scoring defensemen in the AHL (2000-01 and
2003-04), and has 46-121-167 totals and 460 PIM in 353 career AHL games with
Saint John, Syracuse and Hershey. He has one assist and 12 PIM in 16 NHL games
with Calgary and Columbus.

“I’m really excited about coming to Providence,” said Scoville. “It’s never a
great feeling to be traded, but I’ve always heard great things about Providence
from other players. I know the Bruins have a really strong team, and I’m
thrilled to have the chance to join the club and hopefully be a good contributor
to the team.”

The Bruins will play four games this week, beginning on Wednesday, November 17,
when they visit the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. The Bruins return home
to host the Springfield Falcons on Friday, November 19 at 7:05 p.m., before
visiting the Portland Pirates on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The weekend
concludes on Sunday, November 21 at 4:05 p.m., when the Black and Gold hosts the
Philadelphia Phantoms.

The Bruins will host their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive at this weekend’s
games. The Bruins’ wives and girlfriends will be collecting non-perishable food
items in the Dunkin’ Donuts Center box office lobby on Friday from 5:45 p.m. –
7:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. All food items collected
will be donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

Tickets for Friday and Sunday, as well as all regular season P-Bruins games, are
available online on the Bruins’ website, www.providencebruins.com, at all
TicketMaster outlets (401-331-2211 or 508/617-931-2000) and the Dunkin’ Donuts
Center Providence box office. Information on individual game tickets and
Providence Bruins season ticket packages can be obtained by calling the Bruins
ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging on to the team website.

Hi...
Yea the game Friday night at the DDC was great. It is rare that you get to see a whole bench go at it like that. incluinding the goalies going one on one. To bad they did clear the bench on the ice. That would have been a real show. Nice to see some people still loving the game of hockey even though the NHL seems doomed. By the way nice to meet you all...

BenchClearing Brawl
Slugging it out at The Dunk
A bench-clearing brawl of epic proportions is the highlight of the P-Bruins' victory over Hershey.

01:00 AM EST on Saturday, November 13, 2004

BY JOE McDONALD
Journal Sports Writer

PROVIDENCE -- The image was amazing.

Opposing goalies slugging it out at center ice, with both benches empty in the background. In fact, the Providence Bruins' Hannu Toivonen and the Hershey Bears' Peter Budaj were the only players on the ice. No coaches or officials, either. The goalies had the spotlight to themselves with 4:08 remaining in the second period.

Bring the house lights down, add a ring, put a spotlight on the unmasked men, add a smoked-filled arena and you have Friday Night Fights.

When the smoke cleared, the Providence Bruins finished the entertaining contest with a 3-2 victory over the Bears, but not before a wild night of events.

The excitement started when the Bears' Jeff Finger lost his helmet near the P-Bruins' bench. When Finger was able to retrieve it, it was filled with snow. So he and Providence captain Jay Henderson had words on the bench, and it continued on the ice.

The two dropped gloves in front of the Hershey net late in the second period, but it wasn't much of a fight as both fell to the ice and were pulled apart by the linesmen.

Since there was less than five minutes remaining in the period, the players were escorted to their respective benches and each disappeared down the runway heading to the locker rooms.

When play resumed, the two players continued to have words in the lower concourse. A couple of Hershey players left the bench and joined Finger. According to Henderson, he had three to four Bears players on him when someone alerted the P-Bruins' bench. Suddenly, both benches emptied and the players on the ice joined in.

Dunkin' Donuts Center security guards attempted to break up the brawl, but reinforcements and Providence police officers also were pressed into service.

"It was kind of a harmless fight," said Henderson. "Four guys came off their bench and jumped on me, and (Brendan) Walsh came off our bench to help me out. So it was unfair for him to get a game misconduct."

Meanwhile, the 7,024 fans witnessed the two goalies battle at center ice. As players began to come back onto the ice, Walsh made his way over to the goalies and as they both ran out of gas. Walsh made sure the two separated. The Bears' Budaj held out his hand and Toivonen shook it.

Since the situation needed to be resolved, the rest of the period -- 4:08 --was suspended until after the intermission.

There was a total of 80 minutes in penalties handed out for the confrontation.

Providence coach Scott Gordon didn't want to talk about the melee, but was happy with the way his team responded afterward. To both teams' credit, the rest of the game was dedicated to hockey, and the P-Bruins came away with an emotional victory.

"From that point on," said Gordon, "our guys said we would settle it on the ice, and they did a great job."

Similar to the Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees bench-clearing melee in late July that jump-started the Sox' season, the P-Bruins are hoping the result will be the same for them.

"I hope so," said Henderson. "I don't know if it will or not, but I like the theory. It's a team-builder. I was proud of the guys, and we all stuck together, which is a good sign of a team."

It's not the first time these two teams have been involved in this type of incident.

For a moment, the American Hockey League contest between the Providence Bruins and the Hershey Bears took a step back in time to a game when the Civic Center was a new building and the team that called Providence home was the Reds.

It was 1977 when the Reds' Steve Durbano and the Bears' Ron Anderson dropped gloves, and continued their fisticuffs in the lower concourse. The benches emptied, but the only difference in the two scenarios was that the goalies passed the puck back and forth to each other while the extra activities went on under the stands.

Now, nearly three decades later, the Providence Bruins put a mark on their young season with an emotional game.

An elderly woman walked into the Bank of Canada one
morning with a purse full of money. She wanted to open
a savings
account and insisted on talking to the president of
the Bank
because, she said, she had a lot of money.

After many lengthy discussions (after all, the client
is always
right) an employee took the elderly woman to the
president's
office.

The president of the Bank asked her how much she
wanted to deposit. She placed her purse on his desk
and replied,
"$165,000". The president was curious and asked her
how she had been able to save so much money. The
elderly woman
replied that she made bets.

The president was surprised and asked, "What kind of
bets?"

The elderly woman replied, "Well, I bet you $25,000
that your testicles are square."

The president started to laugh and told the woman that
it was
impossible to win a bet like that.

The woman never batted an eye. She just looked at the
president and said, "Would you like to take my bet?"

"Certainly", replied the president. "I bet you $25,000
that my
testicles are not square."

"Done", the elderly woman answered. "But given the
amount of money involved, if you don't mind I would
like to come back at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning with
my lawyer as a witness."
"No problem", said the president of the Bank
confidently.

That night, the president became very nervous about
the bet
and spent a long time in front of the mirror examining
his
testicles, turning them this way and that, checking
them over
again and again until he was positive that no one
could
consider his testicles as square and reassuring
himself that there was no way he could lose the bet.

The next morning at exactly 10 o'clock the elderly
woman
arrived at the president's office with her lawyer and
acknowledged the $25,000 bet made the day before that
the
president's testicles were square.

The president confirmed that the bet was the same as
the one
made the day before. Then the elderly woman asked him
to
drop his pants etc. so that she and her lawyer could
see clearly.

The president was happy to oblige.

The elderly woman came closer so she could see better
and
asked the president if she could touch them. "Of
course", said the president "Given the amount of money
involved, you
should be 100% sure."

The elderly woman did so with a little smile. Suddenly
the
president noticed that the lawyer was banging his head
against
the wall. He asked the elderly woman why he was doing
that
and she replied, "Oh, it's probably because I bet him
$100,000 that around 10 o'clock in the morning I would
be holding the
balls of the President of the Bank of Canada!"
